KDP rejection decoder

TL;DR

Most silent KDP rejections are mismatches between things that are each individually correct: cover text vs metadata, interior title page, spine width after edits, a faintly red-outlined field, or an ISBN from another edition. Answer the questions below in order — the first mismatch you find is almost certainly your rejection. Fix one thing per resubmission; resubmitting unchanged files can never work.

Why KDP rejections feel random

The review is automated and runs the same comparisons every time — cover text against metadata fields, spine width against page count, printed ISBN against the assigned one. When it bounces your book it names a category, not a field, so the loop of “check everything, it all looks right, resubmit the same files” can run for months.
